The Official Maskwacis Remembrance Day Ceremony was held at the Maskwacis Cenotaph on Wednesday November 11, 2015 at 11:00 am. It began with a Honour Processional March to the Cenotaph accompanied with a Drum and Singers from Northern Cree, The SCN Elementary School children sang “O Kanata” in Cree, The attending Chiefs pay Tribute to the Veterans. A list of the Maskwacis Veterans were read out by Staff Sergeant Clarence Wildcat, and it ended with the bugler sound of the last post by Jan Schwonik, and the laying of the Wreaths for the fallen Soldiers. Numerous descendants of the War Veterans and Living War Veterans attended the Ceremony. The Maskwacis Committee did a wonderful job in organizing the Ceremony and In Attendance were Grand Chief of Treaty Six – Tony Alexis, Grand Chief of Treaty Eight – Steve Courtoreille, AFN Regional Chief – Craig Makinaw, SCN Chief Kurt Buffalo, Ermineskin Chief Randy Ermineskin, Montana Chief Darryl Strongman, Louis Bull Councillor Jimmy Bull, Knights of Columbus Members – Victor Buffalo and Veteran Laurence Wildcat, and Members of the R.C.M.P and other Maskwacis Councillors.
