SCN was honoured to provide a tour to the Quaker’s of Canada on August 10th, 2016.The Quaker’s of Canada Quakers are a spiritual group who do not share a fixed set of beliefs but their unity is based on shared understanding and a shared practice of worship. The Quakers of Canada are friends of the Maskwacis Non-Governmental Organization International Organization of Indigenous Resource Development (IOIRD) at the United Nations level. During the week of August 10th, the Quakers held their annual Canadian Meeting at the University of Alberta, AugustanaCampus, in Camrose. The Quakers had expressed interest in visiting the Maskwacis Community through a guided tour. The group learned a lot about the Maskwacis Cree People and our History. The 25 person Quaker Tour began with a Meet & Greet at the SCN Administration office with Chief & Council, Senior Managers and Elders.Our second stop was the Samson Cree Nation Museum, where they were given a tour and an overview of the history of Samson. We then proceeded to Montana Cree Nation Administration building to view the‘Green Energy Solar Power Project’and received a tour of the facility. The tour wrapped up as we visited the Samson Cree Nation Schools and concluded at the Maskwacis Bear Park. The Quaker tour group was invited to partake in the SCN Celebration that was held the following
weekend and saw Quaker attendance both Friday and Saturday; They a had a wonderful and educational time in Maskwacis.
