On November 24, 2016 we had the honour of welcoming Minister Valerie Garrido-Lowe and Toshao (Chief) Gideon John of Guyana, South America visit Samson Cree Nation. Guyana is a small nation on the coast of South America with less than 1 million people per capita. The international Guests were seeking our knowledge and experience in the positive and negative effects of Oil Resources as they discovered a massive off-shore column of oil in Guyana. Councillors Larron Northwest and Jonathan Dion were our representatives that welcomed the Minister & Chief, also Councillor Vernon Saddleback presented a wonderful PowerPoint that gave an overview of SCN, in which the Minister was very receptive. Our international guests were pleased to visit Peace Hills Trust Bank, SCN Schools, view our SCN Crafts Store and Nipsis Cafe, as they are very interested in Indigenous community development.
