This year the Esquao Awards celebrated their 20th anniversary. On May 17, 2015 17 women were presented with awards for their dedication to their community, families, and personal endeavours. The organization has recognized over 400 women from over 80 communities across Alberta. Two women from Maskwacis were presented awards this year. Danika Littlechild was presented the Law award and was also honoured with a buffalo skull from the elders of her community. Louise Omeasoo was presented with the education award for her work with the students of Nipisihkopahk throught the Samson Education Trust Fund, she also graduated this month from the University of Alberta.
