On May 11, 2015 Steve O’Brien passed through Maskwacis on his cross Canada Walk, Run N Roll Tour. During his short visit he presented Samson Cree Nation and all 3 schools with relay batons. The students were challenged to relay the baton and submit the number of kilometers thier baton travelled. Samson Youth and Sports Development and Communications organized a relay on Friday May 29th 2015 at the Howard Buffalo Memorial Centre track and field. Staff from CTA Maintenance, Trades Centre, Samson Youth and Sports development, Elders, Legal Support, and Personnel all participated in the Steve O’Brien relay challenge and accumulated 104 laps around the track equalling 41.6km.
