On Feb. 2, 2015 Samson Cree Nation held A Prayer Breakfast for the community of all four nations. The Prayer Breakfast opening was at 9:00am with Donna Potts-Jonhson as the emcee. The majority of Chief and Council did attend with acknowledgements from Chief Kurt Buffalo. Councillor Holly J.Rattlesnake acknowledged Traditional Groups speaking of traditional teachings. The blessing of the meal was done by Chief Randy Ermineskin of the Ermineskin Cree Nation. Councillor Barb Laroque from the Louis Bull Tribe spoke about the Prayer Breakfast and its meaning. From the guest to Chief & Council, all talked about the power of prayer. Closing remarks were made by the Interim Band Administrator of Samson Cree Nation, Marlene Buffalo, “As a community we need to acknowledge one another, help one another, pray for one another and also for our leaders Chief & Council.” The event came to an end with the “Prayer of Peace” (Prayer of St. Francis) poem. On behalf of Samson Cree Nation, we thank the creator for another day and spend prayers to the community.
