On June 17, 2019, the Honourable Lois E. Mitchell, Lieutenant Governor of Alberta, announced that the Arts Awards will take place in Maskwacis, Alberta, specifically, on the Samson Cree Nation territory. This media release took place at the Government House in Edmonton.
