Green Arrow is Canada’s first Aboriginal Renewable Energy Corporation and it is owned by Montana First Nation. The grand opening of their 100 kilowatt system was held on August 13, 2014. This is the largest First Nation solar project in Western Canada. With a total of 400 panels on the Administration building, it is projected over $450,000.00 worth of electricity will be generated over the life of this system. It will also reduce carbon emissions that would be equal to taking 15 cars off the road per year.
Green Arrow also installed solar panels on 5 homes on the reserve and plans to install panels on more homes and administration buildings in the future.
Chief Rabbit thanks contributions and partnerships built with A.A.N.D.C and Enmax to make this project a success. Chief Rabbit is proud to be able to follow through with the role of First Nations people as stewards of the land with this environmentally friendly resource.
